January 25 at 7:00 p.m. - at New Life Church of the Nazarene
A town where crimes of desperate passion take place, where murderers use wealth and influence to get themselves acquitted, and a place that is home to a cavalcade of movie stars. Sounds like we’re describing Hollywood, but actually we’re talking about quiet old La Canada Flintridge. Who knew our neighboring Valley was so exciting? With his reputation as a great storyteller, historian and author Mike Lawler will recount some truly astounding tales of crimes committed there, along with some of the Hollywood stars present and past that live there.
Mike Lawler first became fascinated with local history when, as a child, he dug holes in the ground of his backyard looking for remnants of the past. He has written several books on the history of his community, including Murder and Mayhem in the Crescenta Valley. He also wrote a popular newspaper column. For over a decade he was the president of the Historical Society of the Crescenta Valley. And he still can’t pass by a hole in the ground without at least taking a glance. This is sure to be a fascinating program! Our Speaker Meetings are always FREE, but donations are appreciated.
You can purchase a copy of his book here.
