Lankershim Reading Room Architecture

According to records, the Lankershim Reading Room was constructed as a one-story, octagon-shaped building made of redwood in a vernacular Folk-Victorian style. The 21-foot-wide structure had redwood paneling, an eight-sided roof made of composite wood, double French doors, and an original redwood floor. Charming sash “pocket” windows slid down into the other seven panels of the octagon, which allowed for an open-air gazebo effect. Original carriage lights added additional character. The reading room was approximately 400 square feet.
