ResearchThe SFVHS has collections of documents, books, audio and video that are available for individual research by appointment only. Many materials are rare and fragile. Please be careful when handling them and do not place any items on top of research materials.

The Mark Harrington Library contains hundreds of volumes about the history of the San Fernando Valley and California.

The Archives contain artifacts and historial ephemera, including telephone directories, letters, maps, photographs, bound newspapers and newspaper clippings.

If you plan to publish or quote from items in our collection, you will need permission from both the San Fernando Valley Historical Society and the copyright owner. Please cite us as: San Fernando Valley Historical Society

Do your researchThe SFVHS collection is utilized by scholars, educators, students, writers and members of the historical society.  If your research is published with material you acquired from us, we would appreciate a copy of the publication.
